It's raining! I absolutely love the rain, especially this time of year because it washes away all of the snow that has been scum-ified by the plows and salt trucks. I can't wait to be able to leave the house without tons of layers on (although I do love the snow when there's lots of it to play in).

I think I scared away the co-worker that I was trying to befriend. She seems to be a little bit skiddish and quiet around me. Maybe my awkwardness is contagious or fear inducing. I'm not giving up, but I am accepting applicatons for friendship via email *cough* loner *cough*. Here are the qualifications for friendshipery: must like animals; enjoy laughing; not be crazy. It also helps if you tend to make strange noises instead of answering questions... because I do that all of the time.

Lazy Day Lounging

Today when I got home from work I went into lazy mode. Boyfriend and I got a pizza for supper, then played around with the stinkies - actually, Oz and Holly got a well needed bath the other day, so they smell even better than I do!

Sometimes the best days are the ones where you sit back and really take a look at what you've got going for you. Lately I've been feeling overwhelmed by the amount of housework I need to do, but I'm going to take a few breaths, burp a few pizza winds and get them done because I feel like doing them (instead of forcing myself to do a bunch of stuff until I get twitchy and angry).

Does anyone else get completely overwhelmed when they have a bunch of stuff to do? It's a good problem to have, really. :)

Hungry Designs

Today my order from Hungry Designs arrived! I've been really looking forward to receiving these beautiful brooches, but now that I can actually hold them in my hands I'm over the moon! Hello Mutant Rulers

I was flicking through the interwebs the other day and noticed that an awful lot of people are perfect. This seems fishy to me. Where are your wrinkles and rolls ladies? Nobody has pimples or red spots anymore, and they most certainly don't have clumpy mascara! And then it hit me - we've been taken over by mutants! I welcome our new mutant overlords, but I wish I had caught on earlier. I spent years trying to have flawless this and flawless that, when I should have seen that being 'perfect' is an oddity that only mutant powers can beget.

I'm not a mutant, so I have wrinkles, pimples and little rolls. I actually named my little belly and love handles Bubba Gus (Bubba being my belly, and the two Gus's being my side rolls). My hair has split ends and I'll probably never be a model, but I think I'm okay with just being a regular, non-mutant human person.

I do kind of wish I could control fire or something though...

I think I'm finally getting back into the swing of things at work. I've been getting up every morning and getting dressed, even though I want to crawl back into bed and eat cake all day. For some reason nobody will pay me to sit around and eat cake... what's with that!?

Yesterday I received a brooch in the mail that I am completely in love with. I really don't want to take it off, but I don't think it's normal to shower with a brooch on. Where would I even pin it!? I'm sorry. Please, please don't envision that.

As I'm writing this, Boyfriend is 'making' supper (he put a frozen lasagna in the oven). For some reason the smoke alarm just went off and the whole house smells like burnt oven mitts. My chances of a delicious dinner may just have plummeted drastically.

I hope everyone is out there getting paid to eat cake and not gnawing on burnt oven mitts.

The Simple Things

Sometimes I forget to appreciate the simple things; when it's really those little things that make life so worth living. I had this revelation last night while I was eating the Rice Krispie cookie leftovers out of a bowl.



Getting to wear whatever I want is anothing thing I'm thankful for. My mom always told me to dress how I feel comfortable, so I did, and I do (maybe the sweat pants all through high school weren't the best idea). Thanks for encouraging me to be myself, Mom!
