Happy Mother's Day to all of the mommies, grand-mommies and fur-mommies out there!

I'm so lucky to have my mom in my life! Thanks for not killing me when I've given you ample motive and opportunity, and for always being supportive, even when I make no sense. Without you, my head would probably float off of my shoulders and into the clouds.

I was also lucky enough to have a Nanny who was like a second mother to me. She may not be on this earth anymore, but she helped to shape who I am today and will always be a part of my life. Thanks for teaching me how to be just the right amount of crazy, Nan.

I hope everyone out there is having a lovely day!

Happy Birthday Oz

Oz is five years old!

I know it's late, but on the 10th of April Oz turned five, so I thought I'd tell you a little bit more about him and how he became a part of my life.

In 2008 I graduated university with my BFA. I had plans to move to St. John's, but I couldn't do it without accomplishing one huge goal... becoming a pet parent! I visited the local S.P.C.A and was overwhelmed by the amount of animals there. I made the very difficult choice of adopting a puppy instead of an older dog because it was my first time having a dog of my own, and only knew the basics of dog ownership. I wasn't confident enough to take on any existing behavioral issues, and I wanted to grow with someone who could grow with me. It was a very, VERY hard decision.

Speaking of hard decisions, here's what I had to choose from:

All of the puppies were from one litter. Their mommy had been abandoned and left in a ditch on the side of the road, but was rescued by a wonderful lady who got her through her pregnancy and took amazing care of her. There were nine little faces looking at me and I could only adopt one. I didn't know how I was going to decide, but then one decided on me. Out of nowhere, one puppy came flying at me! He clamped down onto my nose and wouldn't let go. I looked into his deranged little eyes and knew that he was the perfect kind of crazy for me... so I bit his nose to solidify the deal.

Five years later he's still insane, and I love him for it. He keeps me on my toes and is always there for me when I need him. He's truly my best friend, and he's got my heart wrapped around his tiny little paw.

Happy Birthday you little weiner! I love you.

Being Childish Is Delicious

I will never grow up.

Well, okay, I'm getting older, obviously, but certain aspects of my personality will never mature. Yesterday Boyfriend The Easter Bunny left me treats all around the house. Call me immature if you like, but I love that kind of stuff!

Everything had to be hidden where Harvey Cat couldn't get it, so it was pretty fun trying to find/ reach everything (I'm only 5'2"). Because everything was up so high, I didn't even notice that there was anything hidden around the house until I noticed Harvey hoarding something under the chair. He looked like a tiny Golem, all wide eyed and excited. When I took his precious treasure away he was poisoned with me. Apparently the little fart is way more clever than Boyfriend gave him credit for.

I think it's important to have fun and not give up on things that make you laugh as you grow up. I'm really lucky to have a partner who indulges these silly things.

What kind of traditions do you guys still keep up on?

Nichole

Weekend Review

This weekend I figured out exactly how much I can eat without being able to move comfortably. What an amazing problem to have! This was actually a pretty jam packed weekend, here are the highlights:

- Friday was a holiday, so Boyfriend and I used our combined powers to clean up the house a little bit. There's no way I can describe to you how big of a job that was. I'm a PIG.

- After cleaning and not killing ourselves or eachother, we met up with Rhyder and Claudia for a day of video games, hot chocolate and turkey sandwiches. What is it about hanging out with friends that makes you eat like you're starving?

- I ran into two old friends who I was really excited to see, I love it when that happens! I also ran into my cousin and his girlfriend (who I'm basically in love with), wich was really nice.

- Saturday was scary because it was sandwiched between two holidays. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before, but people seem to go insane when they can't shop for a day or two, and they feel the need to shop A LOT right before and after those days. The crowds were huge and I swear that people were buying things up like they were preparing for the appocalypse.

- March 31st is my best friend's birthday! Happy birthday Marissa, I love you long time! We went out for wings and had a great time. Our friend's girlfriend was really sweet about me awkwardly talking about how pretty she is and telling stories about me peeing my pants.

- I woke up to hidden chocolate all over the house this morning. Boyfriend is really sweet and indulges my favorite childhood traditions :)

I hope everyone else out there had a great weekend too!

Weekend Review

First of all, HAPPY BELATED ST. PADDY'S DAY!

This weekend was actually pretty jam packed! Friday night I had a nice little hermit evening for myself that included popcorn and Grimm. If you haven't seen this show before, and you are a fan of fairy tales and monster-esque stories, I recommend it! It's definitely my favorite show on TV right now.

On Saturday myself and Claudia adventured out into to world for some random shop hopping and female bonding. What ended up happening was me stuffing myself with food and spending money like I was playing Monopoly. Hooray! That night I went to a friend's party and somehow managed to put more food in my face. I'm noticing a trend here... Nichole + Food = No more food. Your tasty morsels aren't safe around me, friends!

I also did this:

Gorgeous, isn't it?

Bruises are like a fine wine; they get better with time. It took a day or so for this bad boy to get all of those fun rainbow colours, but I think it's going to rank pretty high on my 'best bruises' list.

Sunday was all about cheesy Paddy's Day movies (Leprechaun 3, I'm talkin' bout chu), great friends and, you guessed it, more food. I think I'll just roll myself to work on Tuesday. Hopefully I'll fit into my chair!

I hope you all had a great Paddy's Day weekend!

Vaginas And Chocolate

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

While you're snuggling up with your lover bear or diving into some delicious chocolate, remember how lucky you are to have these little things!

On top of being a day for smooches and candies, today is also V-Day; a day to raise awareness about violence against women and girls, and what we can do to stop it. Every day women all over the world experience different types of mental and physical abuse, and many of them suffer in silence. V-Day is about women AND MEN showing their support for these people by speaking up and raising money for shelters and anti-violence groups across the world.

So here's your check list for today:

- Eat chocolate
- Snuggle someone (furry friends included!)
- Count your fortunes
- Donate to V-Day and be a friend to vaginas everywhere!

Yay for vaginas and chocolate!

Hugs and poops,

Nichole

Birthday Bellies

Dress - ModCloth
Cardigan - Garage
Tights - Forever 21

Hello! I've kind of been on hiatus for the past few days. If anyone out there reads this daily, I'm so sorry about that, but I just haven't been feeling well.

Monday was my birthday! I am now officially twenty-seven years old. A small group of us went out to dinner to celebrate and stuff our faces - and stuff them we did! When I left the restaurant I felt like my entire body was filled to the brim with spinach dip and root beer. It was also my friend Andrew's birthday, and it was nice to have a fellow birthday buddy to share the day with, even though the weiner scampered off to the bathroom JUST before a crowd of waitresses came out to sing happy birthday. I had to be sung to all by myself! He doesn't know it, but I plan on getting him back for that... somehow.

I hope everyone's week has been lovely so far!

A Little Valentines Day Preparation

I'm not really the most romantic person in the world, but I do love Valentines Day! I love love, and I love being able to get heart shaped things and heart patterned clothing. Also, who can argue with all of the chocolate!?

While I was parusing the interwebs I found a couple of things that I just had to share with you guys.

The first is from Alicia at The Baker Upstairs. These look like the yummiest brownies ever.

I can't wait to try them!

Then I found this drink from Daydreamer Desserts.

It involves a little bit of preparation, but it looks totally worth it! I might try to make a non-alcoholic version.

Please let me know if you try out these recipes, and be sure to say hello to the lovely ladies behind the recipes!

Hugs and poops,

Nichole

Early Birthday Food Baby

My birthday is still a week away, but since my sister won't be able to hang out with me that day we went out for supper last night. My sister is really funny, so she's always great to spend time with.

I was enjoying my time so much that I didn't even notice myself eating the equivalent of a loaf of bread and a block of cheese. If you haven't had the spinach dip at Boston Pizza yet, I recommend it! I basically inhaled the whole thing, creating a very bloated belly for my food baby to live in.

On the 11th I'll be twenty-seven years old. Eep! Where did all of that time go? Lately I've been thinking a lot about big choices you have to make in life, and wondering exactly how I've made them in the past, and what I plan to do in the future.

It's all very overwhelming to me, but one day at a time, right?

I hope that everyone is having a happy and fun weekend! I recommend getting yourself a food baby and snuggling a doggy while you watch a movie. That's what I did last night :)

Hugs and poops,

Nichole

5500 Views and 101 Posts!

How many views!?
I can't believe we've hit 5500 views after only a few months! I really appreciate every single viewer, idea, and comment that's made, so a great big thank you to all of you guys!

I had hoped to do some sort of giveaway to celebrate, but alas, the blog is still too itty bitty to attract sponsor gifts, so I thought I'd ask you people at home what you'd like to do to celebrate. I do make jewellery, crochet and various other crafty things, so I could potentially make something for a giveaway if you're interested. Please give me some ideas and feedback, we'll celebrate together and have a merry ol' time!

Thanks again!
Stop posting pictures of me on the internet.

Lots of hugs and poops,

Nichole
