Oz is five years old!
I know it's late, but on the 10th of April Oz turned five, so I thought I'd tell you a little bit more about him and how he became a part of my life.
In 2008 I graduated university with my BFA. I had plans to move to St. John's, but I couldn't do it without accomplishing one huge goal... becoming a pet parent! I visited the local S.P.C.A and was overwhelmed by the amount of animals there. I made the very difficult choice of adopting a puppy instead of an older dog because it was my first time having a dog of my own, and only knew the basics of dog ownership. I wasn't confident enough to take on any existing behavioral issues, and I wanted to grow with someone who could grow with me. It was a very, VERY hard decision.
Speaking of hard decisions, here's what I had to choose from:
All of the puppies were from one litter. Their mommy had been abandoned and left in a ditch on the side of the road, but was rescued by a wonderful lady who got her through her pregnancy and took amazing care of her. There were nine little faces looking at me and I could only adopt one. I didn't know how I was going to decide, but then one decided on me. Out of nowhere, one puppy came flying at me! He clamped down onto my nose and wouldn't let go. I looked into his deranged little eyes and knew that he was the perfect kind of crazy for me... so I bit his nose to solidify the deal.
Five years later he's still insane, and I love him for it. He keeps me on my toes and is always there for me when I need him. He's truly my best friend, and he's got my heart wrapped around his tiny little paw.
Happy Birthday you little weiner! I love you.
Hugs and poops,
Nichole
