Friday Finds - Favorties Edition!

So today I thought I'd do Friday Finds a little bit different than usual (since I hadn't spent much time shopping around the internet this week). Above I've listed a few of my favorite products that I'm using right now. I don't know if anyone else does this, but I'll become a little obsessed with certain products at a time. These are my current obsessions:

1. Avon brightening concealer - This concealer is great for covering up those random spots that want to jump off of your face and say 'hello!' to everyone. Death to the spots! To get the concealer onto the brush you have to twist the bottom of the wand. This took me a couple of tries to get used to, so I sprayed concealer all over myself the first go around.

2. O.P.I's Bond Girl Series nail varnishes. I bought almost every colour of this stuff! It has a rough texture to it when it dries, which takes a little getting used to, but it dries super fast and has a beautiful shine and color.

3. Avon's Flawless BB Cream. Last year I went on a mad hunt for a foundation that would give me buildable coverage, but not make me feel as though I'd just dipped my face in mud. This BB cream gives a nice coverage, has lots of different shades for skin tone, and doesn't feel heavy on your skin. Please note: a little goes a long way with this stuff, so don't slap a bunch of it on your face right away!

4. The Body Shop's Aloe Calming Toner. I use this stuff to wipe down my face before I put my moisturizer on in the mornings and nights. It's really gentle on my skin, makes it feel clean and smooth, and gets all of the leftover gunk off my face.

5. The Naked 2 Palette. It seems like every colour in this palette will make any skin tone look like a million bucks. Sometimes I'm too lazy to actually put time into my makeup, so I just slap a couple of colours on my eye lids and go; with these shades, it always looks like I made the effort!

I hope everyone has a sunshine-y weekend!

Filthy Books = Funny Looks

Okay, I'm going to be honest with you guys, I read romance novels.

When I was growing up, I always thought romance novels were something really gross that lonely old women read because nobody wanted to makeout with them. My earliest memory of of such a book was when I was sitting on a bus with my girl guide group. It was a long drive to wherever we were headed, so all of us kids were occupied singing songs or picking our noses, but I remember looking up and seeing the parent supervisor reading a novel. She had a really strange look on her face and she was getting pretty sweaty. Some of the older girls explained to me that she was getting sweaty because she was getting turned on by her boner book. Whatever that meant.

About a year ago, my sister lent me a book and told me it was about vampires. I was three chapters in when I learned that these vampires weren't just sucking blood (IF ya know what I mean).

I was intrigued. I went to Chapter's to pick up the next book in the series, but I was mortified to carry it around the store. I felt like everyone was watching me and just KNEW that I had a dirty book in my hands. I did everything to cover it up, and when I got up to the cash, the cashier all but died laughing at what I was buying. At first I felt a little bit embarrassed, but then I quickly realized that there's nothing wrong with it! Am I a sweaty woman reading romance novels on a bus filled with children? No. Am I old and lonely? No. In fact, even if I was, there would be nothing to be ashamed of anyway! I quickly ran back to the shelf, grabbed another dirty book, and proudly made my purchase with my head held high and my books out in the open! I didn't even take a bag!

It's fun to read stuff that makes you laugh, shocks you, or even provokes you! It's also important to know that you should never be embarrassed by something you do. Be proud and open! Some people might not like it, but those who accept it will love you with their whole hearts!

Besides, boners are hilarious.

Favorite Things

An Apple A Day, Day Cream
My skin likes to dry up and fall off of my face from time to time. I've tried lots of creams, but my inner Crypt Keeper just keeps on coming out. This cream seems to be taming the wild skin and keeping it soft and smooth. I'm pretty happy with it! It's got a mild apple scent to it, so it not only feels really nice on the skin, but it smells nice and fresh. It massages into the skin slowly, but I think it's going to be great for the summer when you don't want to have a heavy lotion on your face. It does make me hungry for apples though... which isn't a bad thing!

Liberte Wild Blueberry Yogourt
I hate yogourt. The consistancy of it has always made me urge no matter what I've mixed with it. For some reason, I do like this stuff! As an aged yogourt hater, it took a bit of getting used to, but the flavor won me over, and the little blueberries are like hidden treasures.

Kong Wobbler
I should have bought this thing before I signed a cable contract. Watching Oz and Holly beat this thing around cracks me up! Even though they know there are treats inside, they get so excited every time one falls out. The kitty cat loves this toy too; it's like a boxing partner for him!

Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter
This has been my favorite body moisturizer for years, but I still wanted to share it with you. Normally I find that scented moisturizers leave much to be desired, but this butter really works! It makes me smell like I just rolled in a tub of satsumas/oranges, but without getting stems stuck in my butt.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Eye Liner, In Violet
This mascara is purple! Fun! It really defines the lashes and makes them look longer, but when you're outside or standing in the light, you can see that it's a brilliant purple colour! I'm in love with it, I only wish that it was more opaque.

Just a few of the things that are putting a smile on my face!

Hello and Hello Again!

Today was my first day back to work! Boyfriend was kind enough to take these pictures of me on my merry little way this morning. It kind of felt like getting pictures taken on the first day of school, especially since I was holding my lunch box.

I decided to theme my outfit for today (which I've been doing a lot lately)!

Today's theme: Little Red Riding Hood

Today isn't just about me saying hello to my long lost co-workers, it's also about saying hello to my new sponsor Ovejita Be!

You may recognize some of their things from my Friday Finds post! I love how whimsical and fun all of their designs are. They also have some knitted apparel and a buttload of cute toys! Head on over to their site or their Etsy shop to see more, and also to say a big hello to Teresa and Miguel (they are just like their items: lovely and sweet).

Happy Monday! I hope glorious jellybeans rain into your candy dishes!

Friday Finds

Washi Tape - Sticker Stop
I've developed an addiction to tape. Is this something to get help for? I keep finding really neat patterned and colourful tape, and I want to stick it to everything (including loved ones and walls that say 'do not place posters or tape here').
Ring - Karamboola
Added to my addiction list is anything that features Little Red Riding Hood. Gimme dat ring!
Buttons - The Heyday Shop
Aren't these buttons cute? This whole shop is jam packed with cute buttons.

Earrings - Blissful Bird Studio
I love these earrings! It actually rains quite a bit here, so I feel like it would be a cute addition to any outfit on a rainy day.

Happy Friday everyone!

Polymer Love

I used to always make beads and jewellery, but for the past few years I hadn't made the time. This past week I've gotten back into it by making myself some silly earrings. Pictured in the last photo is my first attempt to make Luna's radish earrings (from Harry Potter), but I did the coloring backwards, made them too long, and basically made them look nothing like a radish, so I'm going to redo them.

I'm really glad that I've gotten back into this hobby. I really missed it.

What do you do in your free time? Do you make and/or sell anything?

Hugs and poops,

Nichole

A Good Old Fashioned Love Story

Anyone for a cheesy story? (Thanks for this idea, Heidi).
I've noticed that a lot of bloggers include their love stories on their sites. At first it confused me, I thought "why would anyone want to know that stuff about someone they've never met?", but then I read some of the stories and my ovaries took charge. It's kind of like reading a sappy book; you like the characters more when you know more about them, and everyone likes a good love story (stop it, yes you do, don't argue).

Since I've been reading about other people and their mushy love lives, I'm going to share mine and Boyfriend's love story, so that I feel less creepy for reading so many others.

I met Boyfriend in university. I was sitting down with a guy I was dating at the time (his best friend actually, I know, stop judging me), and Boyfriend walked in. He and his friend were talking as Boyfriend and I awkwardly stared at eachother, waiting for an introduction that never came. That dating relationship ended quickly, but we remained friends and I started spending more time with his circle (which included Boyfriend).

Boyfriend made me laugh at lot, and I decided rather quickly that I needed to marry him, so I told him this. I asked him out every single day for an entire summer. He turned me down every time. Eventually I gave up and decided that a friendship with him was great and that it was time to annoy some other boy. I dated someone else and Boyfriend moved away to attend another university. We kept in touch.

After a string of events that I can only describe as unfortunate and poopy, I found myself to be single again, and very damaged. Without Boyfriend I never would have made it through this time in my life. He was always there for me to listen, laugh, and insult people who hurt my feelings. He was my very best friend.

After I graduated, I moved to the same city that Boyfriend lived in. I moved in with him and his friends because one of their roomates had just left. Shortly after this happened, Boyfriend asked me out.

I said no.

He proceeded to call me his girlfriend everyday thereafter (for an entire fall season and into winter) until I finally agreed that yes, I was now his girlfriend. We've been together ever since.

It's strange how a bunch of poorly timed events and awkward moments can lead to finding someone you love so much. I feel lucky to have him here to yell at for getting the bathroom floor all wet when he showers, and to breath morning breath at each day.

The other day, we were leaving a store when I reached into my purse to grab a piece of gum. Boyfriend looked at me and asked for a piece. I only had one piece (which he didn't know), but I gave it to him and said nothing. Before we walked out the door, he reached up and touched my wet hair. He then took off his hat, plunked it down on my head and said "I don't want you to get cold". As we walked to the car, he with my gum, and me with his hat, I smiled, because it was a moment that really sums up how we feel about eachother. It may not be a super romantic story, but it's a real one, and I wouldn't change it.

Anyone need a barf bag? Yea, me too, but I love him.

Nichole

Lazy Days

This is what a lazy day looks like in my house. Oh! I receivd my Little Red Riding Hood tights from Tabbisocks today :)

If it's possible to marry a pair of tights, I've found my soulmate.

What does everyone else do on lazy days?

Why Pauline Will Never Be Saved

Some people are just not meant to build towers. I may be one of these people. This weekend we played Donkey Kong Jenga, which I've been dying to play for a long time, so I was in serious competition mode. Apparently I need to work on this mode, because I crashed the tower every time we played. *sigh*
We laughed a lot, watched Batman, and ate... a lot. I'm pretty sure that nights like this are the reason that the world still goes round. Great friend, great food, Donkey Kong and Batman. What more could anyone ask for?
Oh, and I've been practicing with the Jenga blocks. I'll be knocking down the tower with style next time!

Simple Smiles

Just thought I'd share a few simple things that are making my day extra lovely. I haven't been regularly making my own jewellery like I used to, but that stops today! My clay and tools out ,and I already have one brooch near done.

Tomorrow is suposed to be a super storm day here, so I look forward to relaxing inside with my favorite roomies and watching the snow outside (oh, and eating my weight in cookies).

Hugs and poops,

Nichole
